How to Organize Breast Pump Parts

This post is about how to organize breast pump parts in your kitchen.

One of the things I wanted most when I was pregnant was to exclusively breastfeed my daughter.

Due to a weak latch and thrush issues, our nursing journey came to a stop at just 6 days. But with that came the beginning of my exclusively pumping journey.

I remember going through the free baby registry bag from Target to find a baby bottle for my daughter to try out. That was just the beginning of me accumulating more and more bottles and breast pump parts.

Infants take about 8-10 bottles a day (at least mine did…) and she did not decrease her daily bottle intake until she was 8 months- that is when we switched from Avent’s 5oz glass bottles, to Avent’s 8oz glass bottles (though by that time, we only used 6 bottles per day)

Add those bottles to the amount of breast pump parts, and you get a full sink at the end of the day and counter space taken by bottles and breast pump parts.

How to Organize Breast Pump Parts

Whether you are looking to organize your pumping station, bottle station, or simply your pumping supplies in the kitchen for easy storage, access, and discreetness, in this article I go over 16 different ways you can go about organizing your breast pump parts.

What Items/Containers Can You Use to Organize Your Breast Pump Parts?

When we welcome a baby into our household, we typically have to make space for their items. Most of us do not already have the space readily available– we have to make space somehow.

This starts with choosing the best place to create your bottle station to add your pumping supplies.

Creating space to organize your breast pump parts can look like adding stackable shelve, clear plastic bins, metal rolling cart, wire baskets, or a lazy susan.

How to Organize Breast Pump Parts

Below are 16 different ways in which you can organize breast pump parts. With this variety, there is definitely one perfect option for your kitchen organization for pumping and bottle station.

1. Pull-Out Cabinet Organizer

By using a pull-out cabinet organizer, especially one like the one above, you can put your pump parts and bottles as soon as you finish washing them. Add a drain board at the bottom for a more effective DIY dish rack.

2. Wall-Mounted Thread Organizer

Source

A thread organizer is perfect for those who have limited counter space. You can opt for a wall mounted thread organizer or one that sits on the counter. A thread organizer for 60 spools is bound to be the perfect breast pump parts organizer due to its high capacity and small space it requires.

3. Stackable Organizer Shelves

By using two stackable kitchen shelves, you get three different areas where you can organize your pump parts. With an added drying mat at the bottom you can get a two-in-one combo: a place where you can dry your pump parts and where they’ll be stored before you need to use them again.

4. Fruit Baskets

Source

Go into someone’s house and you will find a fruit basket. Whether that is in their kitchen or in their garage stored away, but nonetheless, it is a common household item that can be reused and repurposed to dry and store your breast pump parts.

5. Four Drawer Storage Cart

Source

Use a 4 Drawer Storage Cart for when you are completely out of counter and cabinet space. This makes a totally functional pumping station as well! Specially so if you are using bottles like Dr. Browns, which have many pieces to them, in addition to the many pieces that comes in traditional breast pumping kits.

6. Three Drawer Mini Storage

A Small 3 Drawer Storage is small yet extremely functional for all the small breast pump pieces. Add a bottle drying rack above the storage drawer, and you can organize it in a way where you have the bottles drying in the drying rack, whereas all the other smaller parts can be contained and separated in the small drawers.

7. Small 4 Drawer Storage

This type of 4 Drawer Storage is bigger than the aforementioned one in #6, but the difference is that it also allows for the bottles to be stored in one of the drawers. This allows for things to be contained and separated by pieces more effectively. Furthermore, you can still have the bottle drying rack above or next to it.

8. Metal Rolling Cart

A metal rolling cart makes the absolutely perfect pumping station in my personal opinion. I used a nursing cart and took it everywhere with me around the house. (You can read more about it here: Nursing Cart Essentials.)

The pumping cart in the image above is perfect if you want to contain all your pumping pieces, parts, accessories, and pump itself in one spot, and not in different rooms in the house (such as keeping bottles in the kitchen cabinet and the breast pump in the bedroom).

9. Pull-Out Organizer Shelves

If you choose to go the pull-out organizer shelves route, please be weary that you may fall in love with them and their look that you will choose to buy more to store your cleaning supplies! And if not, then the benefit of opting to organize your pump parts in two pull-out organizer shelves is that you can reuse them after you are no longer pumping.

10. Shower Hanging Organizer

A shower hanging organizer is another way to save space. Furthermore, if you choose to hang it as seen in the image above, then you do not even need a drying mat since the water will go directly into the sink. And honestly, you have to take a really good look to notice that this is a shower organizer.

11. Clear Plastic Bins

Using clear plastic bins are perfect to keeping your pumping parts organized and aesthetic. With all the rave of The Home Edit, how can you not love this look! Adding your pumping parts to these clear bins keeps everything where it needs to go and completely organized and separated. This way, you do not have to search hard when you need something.

12. Clear Plastic Bins with Labels

Source

I am a believer that labels make everything so much cuter and much more functional. This option, as compared to #11, is great for the family members that are there to help out but there is so much to keep track of in terms of pumping. By labeling the clear bins, you are having both the aesthetic look, as well as the functionality of an organized cabinet.

13. On the Counter Organizer Bins

Source

The different sized bins are great for using on the counter where you can see everything that you have. One bin for each pumping part and bottle to keep things organized.

While I didn’t use the exact method in the image above, I did have one of these bins with bottles and when it was time to add breastmilk, I added measured the ounces of breastmilk in the bottles and then stored them in the refrigerator. Throughout the day, I would get them preprepped from the refrigerator, and once they were all done for the day, it was a rinse and repeat method.

14. Lazy Susan

Source

Adding two lazy susans turntables to your kitchen cabinet keeps things from being hidden in the cabinet. Many times we lose track of what we have because items just keep getting pushed back. This is the perfect method to avoid doing that, as well as rotating your breast pump parts so you don’t wash and use the same parts over again while neglecting the ones in the back.

15. Counter/Shelf Organizers for Pumping Station

Source

With a combination of counter and cabinet space, you can create a great functional bottle/pumping station. Due to how used breast pump parts need to be cleaned, I love the idea of keeping them in their own separate bin to wash at the end of the day – separate from the other kitchen dishes.

Furthermore, by using a pamphlet holder for the breastmilk bags, it just adds another layer of simplicity for the busy mom looking to make their life easier and more automated.

16. Dual Plastic Organizer Storage Drawers

Source

When you combine two different sized organizer storage drawers, you are able to create a more organized way of storing your pump parts. This makes it more functional due to the size difference of the pump parts, so it makes complete sense as to why you can save space by organizing your pump parts in different sized containers.

How to Organize Breast Pump Parts

With how many pump parts are needed for pumping, and even more so when you are exclusively pumping, it is no wonder many women have gotten creative with how they organize their pump parts.

If you regularly use your breast pump, then you need about 2-4 space parts, and accumulated, it can all accumulate very fast, and then you add the 4-10 baby bottles needed to feed your baby, it can definitely feel overwhelming to find storage for these many items.
