This post is a comparison review on the Willow vs Elvie Pump (Willow 3.0 s Elvie).

The Willow 3.0 and Elvie breast pumps are often found to be comparable due to their price.

But are they really? Keep on reading to find out.

The Elvie breast pump and the Willow 3.0 are comparable in the sense that they are one of the most unique breast pumps in the market. They are both hands free, quiet, discreet, same price range, and have an app.

In this post I will cover the other areas of both breasts pumps and see what makes them different to help you make the best decision to choosing your breast pump.

Willow vs Elvie Breast Pump: Price

The Elvie and Willow 3.0 pumps have a $50 price difference. BUT when you buy the Willow 3.0, it does not come with the $50 breast pump containers, which is something that you need for you to pump. Therefore, they come out to be the same price at $550 USD.

Furthermore, the Willow 3.0 comes only with breastmilk bags, which are not reusable and you will have to buy more as you go through them. If you choose to not buy the breast pump containers, you will still be ending up spending about the same (or even more) than the Elvie due to having to restock on the bags.

Willow 3.0: $500 USD ($550 with pump containers)

Elvie: $550 USD

Willow vs Elvie Breast Pump: Covered by Health Insurance

The Elvie and Willow are typically not covered by health insurance. It is not impossible, but chances are slim.

The positive is that they typically offer it at a reduced price, so it can go from $550 to $350 with health insurance, which is definitely much better than paying full price!

Willow 3.0: Not typically, but most health insurances offer it a a reduced price

Elvie: Not typically, but most health insurances offer it a a reduced price

Willow vs Elvie Breast Pump: Settings

Both the Willow and Elvie pumps have their own app that allows you to track your pump sessions, pumping settings, and milk output.

Furthermore, Elvie claims to be the smartest, more quiet, and smallest breast pump out in the market. Whereas the Willow 3.0 claims to be hospital grade strength, which in my opinion, is a huge accomplishment considering it is a portable breast pump.

Elvie: Vacuum suction up to L7

Willow vs Elvie Breast Pump: Battery

The difference in battery life between both pumps is about 30 minutes.

This is my belief as to why they differ by 30 whole minutes: Willow 3.0 claims to be comparable to a hospital grade breast pump and for that reason, I think the Willow 3.0’s battery life is slightly shorter since the pump has to work harder to create that hospital grade strength.

Willow 3.0: 2 hours

Elvie: 2.5 hours

Willow vs Elvie Breast Pump: Weight

The weight differs about 100 grams. It is important to note how heavy each pump is because they are portable pumps and you will therefore carry them in your purse/bag and will also need to wear clothes that can sustain their weight when you wear the pumps.

Willow 3.0: 340 g

Elvie: 225 g

Willow vs Elvie Breast Pump: Capacity

The capacity of these pumps is something that I do know many women are not happy about.

The Willow holds 4 oz of milk, whereas the Elvie holds 5 oz. But I believe that, like the Elvie, you cannot claim to be the smallest breast pump in the market, and still be able to hold 8 oz of breastmilk like other portable breast pumps like the Momcozy S12.

Willow 3.0: 4 oz (breastmilk bags and containers each hold 4 oz)

Elvie: 5 oz

Willow vs Elvie Breast Pump: 360 Mobility

This is one of the biggest differentiators between these two breast pumps. The Willow 3.0 is 100% leak proof and allows for 360 mobility, claiming you can lay down and even exercise while pumping and milk will not leak.

(Do note that the Willow 3.0 is only leak proof and allows for 360 mobility when you use their breastmilk bags. If you use the containers, the pump is no longer leak proof.)

On the other hand, the Elvie makes no such claims.

Willow 3.0: Yes, when using breastmilk bags

Elvie: N/A
